Arthropoda

Overview

Arthropoda is the most diverse phylum of all animals because it contains millions of species of insects. Other kinds of familiar arthropods are spiders, scorpions, millipedes, centipedes, crabs, shrimps, and lobsters. Trilobites are a group of completely extinct arthropods. The two most common kinds of fossil arthropod remains in the Neogene of the southeastern United States are crabs and barnacles; both are types of crustaceans.
